Long Crichel's Walled Garden: a haven for those interested in growing natural food and medicines
Luzia has been working with the Long Crichel Bakery (North Dorset) to develop an organic herb garden.
The whole project comprises just over 1 hectare (2.5 acres) with a traditional English working walled garden, forest garden, orchard, herb garden and three poly-tunnels.Luzia has been working with the Long Crichel Bakery (North Dorset) to develop an organic herb garden.
They plan to have a small resource centre / workshop in order to run courses in 'Herbs for Health', (run by Luzia) 'Mosaic', 'Stone Carving' and 'Green Woodworking'.
The walled gardens are a labour of love and understanding of plants, soil and the associated flora & fauna.
In the last few years Long Crichel have begun selling their own grown organic produce within Dorset and neighbouring counties.
Working out of an original 18th Century walled garden that had fallen into disrepair and overgrown. The gardens have been slowly and painstakingly brought back to life and is now producing the most wonderful produce.
All fruit and vegetables are traditionally hand tended / grown and organic (certified organic - without chemical sprays, fertilizers or using GM products) fully approved by the Soil Association.
